T61 External Moniter(s) Recommendation

#1 Post by chadwicktr » Fri Jul 17, 2009 8:28 pm

I am interesting an buying an external display(s) for my desk. I'm starting grad school this fall, and I'll be putting in some long hours, so I want an LCD that has a height adjustment and a little higher DPI than my 15.4 WSXGA+ screen. I recently borrowed a viewsonic VG2230WM for a few weeks, and I really liked that screen. I actually extended my desktop on it and placed my T61 right below it.

Now that I've had to take the external LCD back, I am ready to purchase one. However, I would appreciate some advice. I was just going to get a 22 or 24 inch panel and drive it from my notebook. But, I think it may be best for me to get an advanced mini dock, and maybe two 19" displays and just park my notebook on my desk, and buy a wireless keyboard and mouse.

I'm trying to keep my budget LOW. But if you had a choice between a single 24" panel or say two 19" panels with a mini dock, which would you prefer? I'd probably have to drop down to the 19 inch panels because of my budget. I'm pretty partial to Viewsonic as far as the brand goes.

I'm going to grad school, and I'll be doing a LOT of reading on my laptop as a I have a e-library of 700+ academic titles.

Thanks,

CT

*EDIT*
I could actually get a decent deal from Newegg on an Acer 22" http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6824009174

I guess it would depend on how far away the screen sits. How about one good IPS panel for all that reading. I think Dell has a couple.
