Z60m Intel 2915ABG Wireless Thermal Issue

#1 Post by 4spuds » Sat Jul 18, 2009 1:22 pm

I seem to be having a thermal issue with the Intel Wireless 2915ABG in my Z60m. I know the Z60m runs notoriously hot, but so far I have been able to successfully keep the heat down with regular dust cleanings as well as tweaking the CPU voltages slightly lower. This past week the amient temperature has been pretty hot and my wireless connection started to act up. The only evidence I have is that I can power up the computer cold, connect to our access point successfully for maybe a minute or two (during which all network functions seem to work ... association, pings, etc.), but then It'll start to seemingly drop packets and eventually drop the connection entirely. Oddly enough, the ThinkVantage Access Connections still shows an association and signal strength even tho all other network functions stop working. Has anyone ever heard of such problems? Any ideas for further diagnosing?

Let Windows manage your connections, and see if that improves things.
Or try a different wifi card.
