I reinstalled the OS on my T40 (2373).
It used to have Windows XP Pro and now has Windows XP Home
I am now missing some pretty basic drivers: Ethernet and Wireless cards dont' work; display jumps instead of scrolling...
Since I don't have any of the original CDs I have to find the drivers online.
The Lenovo website seems to have all the drivers for T40,
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... 46258.html
but when I download and install them, nothing happens; no new hardware is "found", even after a reboot.
What am I doing wrong?
Do I have to resort to spending $29 on software like DriverDetective?
Thnx
Update
I was able to get the Wireless card to work with a driver from Softpedia,
Still no luck finding Display driver, whether from Lenovo or from ATI, or from other sources - keeps telling me something like "not compatible with your hardware/software configuration"
I am pretty sure the card i have is Radeon 9000 32mb

Welcome to the forum.
F11 Recovery at boot time doesn't work?
Most IBM drivers requires two steps. After downloading, first step is just to expand the driver into a directory called c:\drivers\... Then you have to find the driver there or run a setup utility. The drivers are usually in c:\drivers\win\... and utilities are in c:\drivers\w2k\... If the driver has no setup utility, then just use the update button in each device management pane.

Re: T40 - Reinstalled XP and now can't find drivers that work
Bingo.
I was just "unpackaging" the drivers from Lenovo's site, not installing them.
Have to go to the folder and click on the setup exe file...
Works now
Thnx
