Network Problems

I just restored the factory software on my T41. When I start it up now, it can't seem to get to the internet (either wirelessly or wired) even though it finds my wireless router just fine. Also, a T61 on my LAN complains that there's a conflict with the IP address of another computer on the network (presumably the T41).

Any clues as to what's going on?

Can you set the T41 and T60 to DHCP? Are you using the Access Connection profile setup wizard?

The access connections profile just addresses the wireless connection, right? In any case, yes, the access connections profile has DCHP on.

AC recognizes the router (signal strength = 100%). It shows that an IP address hasn't been assigned but IPCONFIG shows an IP of 192.168.1.103.

When I try to connect in AC, it hangs at 'Attempting connection with profile' and then just fails.

The conflict with the T61 appears to be only when the T41 is connected by wire (makes sense since it's not connecting wirelessly).

Uninstall AC and find version 1.51a or later and install it. Your T60 may be using fixed IP address? Are there two routers on the network? What is the WiFi card and driver version in the T41?

Install AC 1.51a on the T41? Do you have a URL?

The T61 is using dynamic IP for its wireless and wired connections.

Latest version should work. I am just happy with 5.12. (sorry, my mistake on the version number).

In the interim, I ran the Network Setup wizard again, forced it to configure for a LAN (it didn't want to for some reason) and now I'm on the network and internet and not colliding with the T61.

Would you still recommend installing the other AC version?

Yes, I do recommend you uninstall and install version 5.12. You may need to install MS .NET Framework 3.0 as well.

I actually use fixed IP address for all the main computers in the range just below the DHCP starting address, such as 192.168.1.50-99. Just keep a table how you assigned these addresses for your network.
