I should have know better...
I have a T400 and of course my old Linksys Wireless-G (WPC54G) is a CardBus PC Card 54 mm.
Having said that, I thought Linksys would make a wireless LAN adapter in Express card 54mm format, they don't.
So, I am looking for a PC Card 54 mm to Express card 54 mm adapter.
I looked at http://www.expresscard.org/web/site/cons_wtb.jsp with no luck.
I found the ST Lab ExpressCard to Cardbus (PCMCIA) Adapter which is what I need, but before I purchase one, has anyone done this before?
If you have, what is your review of the adapter and/or performance?
[Side note]
You might be wondering why the built in wireless in my ThinkPad isn't good enough?
I have a really odd VPN issue I'm trying to figure out. I also own a Linksys Wireless G Access Point (WAP54G) and my workstation has a Linksys Wireless-G PCI Adapter (WMP54G).
VPN works with:
Workstation has a Wireless-G PCI Adapter (WMP54G) to Wireless G Access Point (WAP54G).
ThinkPad R50p with Wireless-G (WPC54G) to Wireless G Access Point (WAP54G).
VPN does not work with:
ThinkPad T400 build-in wireless to Wireless G Access Point (WAP54G).
Anyone have a review of a PCMCIA to Express Card Adapter?
Re: Anyone have a review of a PCMCIA to Express Card Adapter?
I fixed the issue and I'm surprised how.
I turned off the wireless radio built in the T400 using the hardware switch on the notebook. Afterward, I purchased a Wireless-G USB Adapter WUSB54GC v3 and used that instead.
VPN worked right away!
So, Linksys has somehow limited VPN to work with only their hardware. Whether or not that is completely true, I'm not for sure.
Now:
VPN works with both Thinkpads plus wireless workstation:
Workstation has a Wireless-G PCI Adapter (WMP54G) to Wireless G Access Point (WAP54G).
ThinkPad R50p with Wireless-G (WPC54G) to Wireless G Access Point (WAP54G).
ThinkPad T400 with Wireless-G USB Adapter (WUSB54GC) to Wireless G Access Point (WAP54G).
