T60 LCD upgrade

#1 Post by panorama » Fri Jul 31, 2009 1:53 am

This question has been posted couple of times, but I am unclear of how to upgrade the LCD. I have 14.1" T60 and i wanted to upgrade to to UXGA.
Q) Is it possible to upgrade? If yes can someone give instructions to do so (Disassembly instruction not required).
Q) What is EDID?
Q) Are 14.1" UXGA LCD's available?
Q) How much upgrade would cost?
Q) Does this void warranty?

Believe somewhere in the forum it talks about this upgrade.
However to sum it all up it is NOT possible to upgrade to a UXGA 14.1 T60
Only possible in a 15.1 T60.

It is quite possible to upgrade a 14.1" T60 to UXGA. See http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=73465 for discussion.

Is there any bright flexview/IPS screen SXGA+ for T60 14", that does not require additional work, as in EDID programming, or dealing with pins?

My current LCD is SXGA+ but its ageing and it is not that bright. FRU on ibm website shows 13N7059 for LCD.

There are/were no 14" IPS screens. You can swap the screen if you like. It should be a straight swap.

You also have to cut pin 2 on the connector of the panel, but that's a minor issue ;)

Why would you need to cut the connector if swapping one SXGA+ screen for another?

I'm talking about swapping a SXGA+ for a UXGA screen, not SXGA+ to another SXGA+. In which case you just have to do a straight swap.
