Keyboard print in the display?

#1 Post by atlacatl » Mon Jun 07, 2004 8:05 pm

I'm curious to hear of t4x users if they have the same issue I have.

The issue of the keyboard print (and specially the red eraser stick print) on the display from carrying it around. You know what I mean?

I know it's the oil/grease from my fingers, but it's quite anoying.

I've solved the problem by cutting a piece of a cotton T-Shrit and I place it on top of the keyboard every time I go somewhere.

Just curious if anyone cares and how they deal with the issue?

I have the same issue on my T40 and I find it annoying too.
I started having these prints the day I installed my mini pci wi-fi card.

Well, I don't directly put stuff on top of the laptop, however I do carry it inside a back pack and put things in the bag: books, clothes, etc. I'm sure the things in the bag press against the body of the laptop, hence imprinting grease stains in the LCD.

It doesn't bother too much, as I just wipe the screen and the stains go away.

I'm just curious, because I don't hear it mentioned that often, so perhaps most ThinkPad user use different a type of bag, or are extra careful with their lappies. I doubt the gentle handling, knowing that we do own mini-tanks as laptops :D

I carry around my laptop in a Marware sleeve in my backpack along with books and folders and papers. Once in awhile I get the trackpoint print on the screen, but I've never gotten any key prints on the screen.

I get them all the time and just clean the screen when they bother me - but I have a colleague who instead places something over the keyboard every time he closes the machine.

A thin piece of foam works, or a stiff piece of plastic (an old overhead projector slide) or even a clean sheet of paper.

I have trackpoint mark on the screen practically permanently... I use concave cup so mark is a circle. Not very noticeable unless you search for it...
