Merom in a Penryn Motherboard

#1 Post by sparta.rising » Mon Aug 03, 2009 5:22 pm

Would a Merom Socket P 800 FSB processor work in a motherboard that originally came with a Penryn Socket P 1066 FSB?

Specifically, a T7500 when the laptop came with a P8600 (original processor unavailable).

Could it be pin-modded?

I've never tried that swap myself, but all of my experience is telling me that it wouldn't work.
