Adding SSD/Bluetooth/Fingerprint Reader/Ram to your X200TLBT

#1 Post by zorobyte » Mon Aug 03, 2009 10:28 pm

I have a 7450-2CU X200 Tablet that did not come with features that I'd love to see. This topic will serve as a overview on adding features to your X200 Tablet.

Parts ordered NEW from IBM

Fingerprint reader:
Part #45n5354 (45n5354 supersedes 44c9652) I have a Wacom pen tablet with no multitouch/fingertouch. This Pt# is the complete bezel with the fingerprint reader attached.
$39.50

BDC-2.1 (Bluetooth 2.1 module)
Part #44c9696
$33.00

Overnight shipping was only $13.50 to 46029

Parts ordered NEW from Newegg

Add Windows 7 with the BETA drivers from Lenovo http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... BETA#tvgps and you have a great solution for all of your needs. I use eboostr (http://www.eboostr.com/) for my "cache" instead of readyboost (with 1GB of RAM dedicated on top of 20GB of SSD and 4GB SD) Everything is SUPER fast with MASSIVE storage. I use the rest of the SSD for Photoshop scratch files.

I got my X200 tablet used (the guy used it for less than 2 weeks, confirmed by receipts and HDD SMART power on hours) with on-site 3 year warranty for $350 that was activated July 1st of 2009.

Oh yes, add Skype with a unlimited WORLD (40 country calling area) with unlimited talk time for $14.99 a month, coupled with your WWAN card, you are GOLDEN.

Have you purchased the mini-PCIe SSD yet? If not, I suggest you don't- After lots of research I'm almost completely certain it won't work in a standard mini-PCIe slot. The Dell mini 9's and the eeepc's have different pinouts on their mini-PCIe slots, only the mechanical form factor (i.e. how it's shaped) is the same.
