Z61t Bad Battery Recall Information Needed!

#1 Post by HarryWild » Tue Aug 04, 2009 2:07 am

I have a Z61t that I just got around to using and the battery lite keeps blinking. I saw a previous posting saying that this battery got recalled.

Does anyone know how to go about getting a replacement battery?

Contact telephone number? Email? Website?

Thanks.

Harry

I am not aware of any battery recalls affecting Z61t series.

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... ATT-LENOVO

only mentions Z60m/Z61m/e/p models, which use different batteries, as well as some T/R/X series.

Have you seen any particular reference to Z60/61t recalls?

I did the search here again - - - but could not locate it! My mistake? I see that their are other configurations in compatible batteries. Are there new batteries packs that don't stick out like the origninal 4 cell yet? What is the best battery pack to purchase and why?

Thanks for all your help.

There are two types of batteries for the Z61t - the 4-cell, which does not stick out (part number 40Y6791), and the 7-cell which does stick out (part number 40Y6793).

You can find them in Lenovo's online store sometimes, and sometimes on eBay, but when buying from eBay it is often hard to know whether these are Lenovo originals or some third-party compatible battery, which may be of lesser quality.

dr_st,

I will keep that in mind. Thanks for all your help. I think I will keep with the 4 cell since I will be using it mostly with the AC adopter but hate the blinking battery light. I will look for a 1 year warranty on the battery.

It wasn't exactly a recall, but a warranty extension. There apparently wasn't a safety issue. It has expired for all but the X60 tablet batteries at this point. The link is below;

I've seen more than a few Z60t/Z61t batteries with this issue.
T510, i7-620m, NVidia, HD+, 8GB, 180GB Intel Pro 1500 SSD, Webcam, BT, FPR Home
T400s, C2D SP9400, Intel 4500MHD, WXGA+, 8GB, 160GB Intel X18-M G2 SSD, Webcam, BT, FPR Travel
