Need Ultraslim Bay for T42 2379 DXU

I need an ultraslim bay drive for the T42 2379 DXU to replace a broken one.I don't know any of the numbers for it so if you could please tell me which one I need or that originally came with this laptop I would appreciate it.

Sand, it originally came with an Ultrabay Slim CDRW/DVD Combo drive. The part# is not important because any Ultrabay Slim CDRW/DVD Combo drive will work in it. What you need to make sure of is that the front bezel is curved to match the contours of the T42.

I called Atlanta and got the right number; 13N6769; double checked after ebay said it was for T61 by removing it from laptop. Ebay has a new one for 66.88. There are used ones for less but how do you know HOW used they are?

Do you think this is a good price? Also, by beveled you mean the diagonal corner is cut off?

Beveled as in the entire face-plate is beveled inward toward the bottom of the machine. Look at your present drive, you'll see what I mean. On T60's the face-plate is flat and straight. As far as new vs used, you could probably get (2) used drives for $68 and change. What I would do (since I trust the members here) is to ask for one on the Marketplace forum and buy used. Request that it be tested and do the same using PC-Doctor on receipt. That way you know that it works initially., If my only choice were EBay, then I might lean more toward new vs used.

I have a brand new one still in sealed packet that was a replacement from IBM for my T41. It was never used as the original started to work again.
