Speaker plugged into the dock - no sound

#1 Post by ziggie216 » Wed Aug 05, 2009 11:04 am

I'm running Windows 7 on my x200s and there is sound coming out from the laptop speaker itself. When I plug in the speaker into the dock, I do not hear anything. I have already tried using another x200 dock, same result. Now i'm wondering if this was caused by a defective laptop or maybe because of W7. Any clue?

I have the same problem too! I have Win 7 on the x200s. I have just RMA'ed my docking station, but the problem still persists.

It's weird that the sound worked on Win 7 RC, but has never worked on Win 7 RTM. Please let me know if you figure it out.

Boot up a Linux Live CD. If sound now works in the dock it is a W7 driver problem.

Is the internal volume up? Not the mixer, but the volume up button on the Thinkpads keyboard.

Yepp, the internal volume is at max.
I have a feeling it's related to some driver, does the dock have specific drivers?

There are no specific drivers for the dock.

Any other ideas? It's so annoying to attach the sound cable every time.

Just reinstall the latest audio driver while docked - that should resolve it (did for me)
