Any clue on the next model to replace the X200s?
I was wondering if there's any news yet about what's going to replace the X200s ? Maybe X201s or something like that? I may have a chance to visit the far east in a couple of months and was just wondering about that.

Generally a new "refresh" a new model is released when there is a new CPU or chipset released by Intel. To find out this sort of information consult what is called the "roadmap" by googling. I believe that there is supposed to be a new model of CPU in the last three months of the year but I'm not certain. Around that time expect to see a "refresh" of the X200 to the X201 or whatever.
The X200 or X200s are outstanding machines and there is not too much to improve upon (finally) in my view except on the X200 there should be an LED backlit display option. There is on the X200s but some people find the resolution of the screen on the X200s too high for their liking.
Other possible issues for improvement is having DisplayPort instead of or in addition to VGA on the unit itself. For now to have Displayport (which can convert to DVI) one must use the X200 base.

This topic has been talked about quite a few times already. The new model will be called X210s and it will be released sometime next year (no one know the exact date BTW).

Thanks for the replies. So I guess earlier rumours of X201s at 4th quarter of this year weren't true. Guess we'll have to wait for first quarter of 2010. I already have X200s with LED display but I wanted to replace anyway cause have a chance of being in far east at the end of the year thought i would be able to grab a good deal on a newer model. guess not.

I also have the X200s but a great "upgrade" to the machine is to get an Intel X25-m SSD. This SSD you can put in the new machine when it comes out.

I would wait until Intel gets the G2 models working. But I am going to get the G2 160 GB SSD when they are made available. Note that the new price is $450 for the 160 GB and $230 for the 80 GB (75 GB usable) models. The G2 models will have TRIM capability when Windows 7 is released. Windows 7 works really well with SSD. I use it with the 80 GB Intel G1 model that I have already installed.
