T43p GPU problem...

Hi folks,

I've been browsing this excellent forum, but (to my knowldge) nobody has really given a definitive answer on the T43p GPU problem.

I have a T43 with intel graphics. I love the intel graphics, its perfect for everything I do. I've had a grand total of zero problems with this machine. However, I really want SXGA, so I'll need an ATI chip, and so a T43/43p with ATI.

Does the T43p/43 w/ ATI graphics exhibit this GPU problem? If so I'll just have to move to a T60.

If you are looking for a portable, 14 inch machine; there are no T4x/R5x with intel GPU and SXGA+ LCD. There are 15 inch R52 that has intel GPU and SXGA+ LCD, e.g. 1860-4QU. Most R52 XGA MB will drive a SXGA+ LCD.

T43/p suffer from the "loose GPU" syndrome to a far lesser extent than the rest of their T4x/R5x siblings.

With that said, with today's prices of T60/p units, these might be a better choice than a T43/p.

My $0.02 only...
