3-pin USB Power Slot on the left side
3-pin USB Power Slot on the left side
Hi, I wonder how it can be used?
Tried to google USB 3-pin, USB power slot, etc with not much success...
What is it called? Are there any cables that I can by to use it for powering other devices?
Anyone has any idea?
Thanks.

Re: 3-pin USB Power Slot on the left side
I'm assuming (from looking at my X22, X31 and X41t systems), that you are talking about an X4x system. The powered USB port just below the regular TYPE A receptacle. The IBM ltwbook.pdf file says that this is for "select options" like this:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... 53489.html (USB 2.0 Portable Multiburner)
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... 58756.html (lists 22P9215 as the FRU for the power cable)
Currently, there's one for sale on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0077807778
Don't know if there's an separate source (from IBM, that is) for this 3-pin cable, but it probably exists in somebody's catalog.

Thank you very much!
I think I'll get it and try to hack Nokia's 2mm adapter on it

Nokia already makes a USB charger adapter.
http://www.amazon.com/Nokia-276959-CA10 ... B000QGF8OQ
Granted, it doesn't use the Thinkpad power port connector, there is still a USB solution for Nokia. Just an FYI.

Yeah I've seen these, even got 2, one had some electronics in it and was overheating to the point of plastic melting, and another is on its way.
But the laptop has only 2 USB ports and I'd prefer to use only one for the phone, if possible.

My X41 tablet came with a DVD drive that needs a little different version of that cable.
DVD drive - 73P4515 (73P4520 is it’s FRU replacement)
Y Cable - 73P4521
