Suggest slate PC alternative to X61 tablet?

I have the X61 tablet right now but it is too much for my needs - too much functionality, and too much weight. So I am looking for a slimmer lighter slate PC (no keyboard) with a high-res screen and with some punchy performance. I am mainly interested in using it exclusively for annotating PDFs (including freehand) which takes a good bit of processing power to do smoothly. Either Linux or Windows 7 compatibility. Any ideas?
