TV card USB 2.0

#1 Post by toolshed » Tue Feb 08, 2005 10:05 am

I just got a T42, 23733uu and want to get a USB2.0 Tv card.
I think I will install Fedora Core 3, because the maintence of my LFS is starting to be to much work, and I am rdy to go back to RPM based distro(i think).

The one I want to get is a Hauppauge WinTv-USB 2.0
http://www.hauppauge.com/Pages/products/data_usb2.html

I have seen a few drivers out there for it, however it does not look like a clean approach.
Anyone have any luck getting this to work in linux?
Or does anyone know of USB 2.0 card that will work under Linux?

Actually I think I have found a driver for it:

However, it looks like NTSC is not fully supported...looks like it is dev. in a PAL country.

But some of the Haupauge drivers for OS/2 have been released under GNU and maybe you can port them to Linux.
There are fully developed drivers for the PVR-250 and PVR-350 cards, on which I believe the USB PVR card is based, however I dont know whether it is directly supported

Well, I believe the USB and USB 2 are totally different implentations. I am not sure of that.

So, as far as I can tell there is not any actual drivers , but there are drivers that will work good enough. The problem seems to be hauppauge holding on to the specs like grim death..

I think I am going to try and see once I buy the USB2.0 card.
