T 42 problem with start-up, any help would be appreciated.

Folks, i'm a newbie here but need some help. I just purchased, from my company, a T 42 Thinkpad with docking station and so forth, it was a IBM lease pc and about 4 years old. Anyway, our pc guy at work has cleaned everything work-related off this machine and restored it back to its original state, when i bring it home a Blue screen comes up then it says windows did not start successfully and then it gives you some options of starting in safe mode and so forth, i did a system-restore and no luck. Anyway, i didnt have any luck with it so i ask our pc guy at work and he says bring it back to him and he re-runs the set up disks and i see the pc working yesterday in his office. Anyway, once again i get home and power it up and it starts the same process, Blue screen and so on. Can anyone recommend/suggest any other options that i may have with this besides asking our pc guy at work to look at it again?
thansk for any help

There are too many possibilities to list based on the information that you provided. About the only thing I can suggest is that you download, burn, and run a PC-Doctor disc and run diagnostics on everything. Also run memtest86 on the RAM.

Run PC Doctor if you can and if that doesn't show the problem, take it back to your PC guy - if it does it that regularly for you, it will do it for him eventually. Tell him to start it up and use it for a day. You can get the error message on the bluescreen to troubleshoot further (although sometimes, these aren't that helpful).
