SOLVED:ID/Placement:Is this a "Rubber,Shock Absorber" *PICS*

#1 Post by mrwizeman » Sat Aug 15, 2009 1:33 pm

Hello,
Where does this thingy go in the T43?
And what is it?

Background: I replaced the system board on my T43 15" 2668F5G because I got tired of the ATI GPU bluescreening on me.
Anyway now I have a 39T0324 board in it with the Intel GPU, and its stable.

I thought I was really careful when I disassembled it and placed every screw and part in its own cup
and wrote down the partnumber and everything, but when i was going to
assemble everything again, I had no idea where this part goes (see pics below),

I *Think* its the "Rubber, Shock Absorber" mentioned on page 242 in the
Hardware Maintenance Manual (July 2005) - ThinkPad T43/p (2668, 2669, 2678, 2679, 2686, 2687)

Can some kind soul with a T43, open theirs up and locate this part and please snap a pic or describe where it is supposed to go?

I really dont like to assemble it without putting this piece of rubber back as well.

Welcome to the forum.

This is a sound pipe for the mic located between the LCD connector and USB connector at upper left side. These are nice pictures.

Wow, that was fast, Thanks and thank you for the reply :D , I will try to figure out where it goes exactly, upper left corner huh?

Gonna give it a shot.

If anyone has a drawing or a pic of its exact location please post it.

You'll see the ,mic on the motherboard - a small round low cylinder. Look at the opening on the keyboard bezel above the ESC key to get an ide of where it is located. The rubber can only fit one way.

Thank you both very much, I had no trouble locating the mic, and for future reference I took a couple pics of its location.
It fits nicely around the sides on the back of the USB ports.

Maybe it will help others in the future
