Cannot run WWAN in my X61T + Question

#1 Post by idan_c » Tue Aug 18, 2009 4:16 am

Hi Friends,
I have my X61T 7764-CTO with Build in Antenna on the top of the screen, Place for simcard aside the memory place.
On the laptop back i see the stick Cingular-USA with P-no, ICCID and other stick with IMEI Number.
Is that possible that my laptop is just WWAN Ready and has no WWAN Card inside? I tried to install the driver from IBM Website but i cannot add WWAN service in the on Connect application, The WWAN is disabled and when i add new profile it is not available at all.

When i bought it the seller told me that it has WWAN inside but i am afraid it just a WWAN Ready.

Hope you can help. Is there any way i can check if there is WWAN Card without disassemble the laptop?

Thanks,
Idan

Look up the original installed parts list at the Lenovo warranty page. Enter your machine type and serial number, then select parts list.

Yes, that is the Sierra Wireless MC8775 PCI Express MiniCard . If it's listed, the machine left the factory with one installed. Make sure it's turned on - FN-F5.

That`s what i don`t understand.. When i press on FN+F5 i see only WIFI and BT but the WWAN is available in this menu.
I installed the driver but still its not appear there. When i try to install another driver for WWAN i get bluescreen...

I will try to find what`s the reason for this.
Thank you anyway!

Update:
I have just formatted my X61 and installed all of the drivers from the beginning. I installed the access connection and the hot key and then the Cingular wwan driver, When i installed the driver i saw precents counting at the right bottom screen and when finished i restarted the computer. When i press on fn+F5 or even open the device manager i can`t find the Sierra WWAN Modem whereas i can see the sierra installed in the Windows software uninstall program.
I tried also to create new profile in the Access Connection but i couldn`t find WWAN..
Any Idea please?

Thanks!
