R31 + Dell 2005FPW: only 1280 x 1024?

#1 Post by Crandon » Tue Feb 08, 2005 9:05 pm

I have a thinkpad R31 and I just bought a widescreen dell 20." I have it hooked up via VGA (there is no DVI on this comp) and the highest res. i can get is 1280 x 1024 but this monitor is 1680 x 1050. Is it possible to get my computer to work at full resolution? Any help would be great, right now the OS is just stretching itself to fit the screen and it looks funny.

What kind of driver are you using and which video card does it have?
If you are using IBM driver for Radeon card you may want to get some other driver such as Omega driver for ATI cards.
Also updating monitor information in Windows will help setting allowed resolutions for external monitor.

The driver is just the one that came with the monitor, made by Dell. The graphics card is the intel extreme graphics card. It's a total POS, but is there any fix to get the monitor up to 1680 x 1050?

I have read people using IEG and getting 1600 x 1200 for external monitor.
1680 x 1050 is one of those odd wide screen resolution.
All I can think of is to try to get the latest IEG driver and update it and see if you can get option for that resolution.
