SOLVED: Windows 7 RTM + W500 = no mute button

#1 Post by Wendy » Sun Aug 23, 2009 5:50 pm

Installed Win7 RTM 64 and I am almost completely happy. I just realized that the sound buttons work but the mute button doesn't. Any ideas, suggestions? Its livable for now.

Anyone know when all the drivers are going to be available for Win 7? October when the official release is?

I have to say that it handles mostly everything just fine. I'm able to run all my software and only have a few niggly things that are tolerable.

I also installed it on the R61i (32bit) and no complaints there either.

SOLUTION: Upgrade the bios....duh. Now to solve the switchable graphics

Do you have Hot Key features installed from: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... -BETA.html
(this features allows on screen display when volume buttons are actuated)

Note that the System Interface driver needs to be installed before any other features are installed. That feature is on the page I linked.

Thanks for the reply but the hot key install keeps hanging...tried twice, restored twice ;-(. I can live without for the time being still a non-beta driver is released.

I'm having the same problem on my t400, except I HAVE the hotkey driver installed. All the other hotkeys work, except my mute button.

EDIT: Reinstalled the driver (seems they've updated it since I tried) along with all the other new drivers, rebooted about 5 times, and it started working.

The odd thing is that it works through the mini-dock on the keyboard controls.

And I rebooted many times ;-d
