X200 + Windows 7 Fan Constantly Running

#1 Post by kpdillon » Tue Aug 25, 2009 5:22 pm

I just got a new x200. I never tried XP or Vista on it. Went straight to Windows 7 RTM. The fan constantly runs. I am wondering if this is the normal behavior of the x200 or if it's because I am running Windows 7 and the proper drivers to control the fan are not quite there yet. Any others out there?

The fan is controlled by the BIOS. Your choice in operating system has nothing to do with it.

I have the same problem, some others say it is solved, but for me doesn't seem so:

Try to install the latest drivers for Power management (Power Manager Driver, Power Manager) from

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... =WIN7-BETA

and report back if it's ok.

I am running Windows 7 64 bit, maybe that is also a problem.

Gregor
