[SOLVED] X41 tablet screen rotation issue

#1 Post by ipnixon » Tue Aug 25, 2009 8:57 pm

Hey everyone!

First off, a really great story about Lenovo support. I bought an X41 tablet off eBay, which came with a dying 60GB HD (it had a very distinct repetitive click pattern every so often). Anyway, I looked up the serial of the X and it's still in warranty until December 4, so I requested a new hard drive. I got the drive today, only to find not another 60GB HD, but a 64GB SSD! Needless to say, I am very very happy with Lenovo's customer service.

Anywho, I just got XP tablet edition installed, and I'm having an odd problem with the display, specifically when I close the lid. XP takes between 25-30 seconds to rotate the display from landscape to portrait, and vice versa when closing and opening the lid. However, the switch is instant if I use the button on the display.

When I used the Lenovo restore discs earlier, the change from portrait to landscape and back was instant when I closed/opened the lid, so I'm not suspecting hardware.

Has anyone heard of this problem? Could it be an outdated driver or something? Thanks! :)

Never mind, I got it working. Found an older thread that suggested updating the graphics driver, and it worked :)
