new X41 updates

Just talked to an IBM rep this morning about the new X41s which is scheduled for release in 2 months: didn't get too much information other than the fact that the new X41 will be a tablet style PC (similar dimension & weight to the X31 but definitely heavier than the X40), no upgraded hard drive, new Sonoma chip, etc.

Looks like I will be settling for the X40 instead ...

I doubt that will be called the x41.... the form factors of all machines in a family stay the same.... x20-24, x30-31, t20-23, a20-22 etc.... they start a new set of ten ie... x50 for a new form factor... i believe a tablet would qualify as a new form factor

Thanks for the correction; I have read rumors of the new X series model referenced as both X41 and X50.

Nevertheless, that was the information provided by the IBM sales rep as of Feb 9th 2005. I was planning to purchase an X40 but wanted to see what will be included in the new updates.

I just got a price list from my school computer store.

On there, it reads the "last order date" for the T42s listed on there is Mar-05, and the "last order date" for the X40 listed is May-05.

I am not sure how significant this means, but since the T43s come out in Feb and T42s can still be ordered in Mar-05, maybe the "new X" would come out in April.

Now maybe it's not the X41 or anything, could be just a X40 with faster CPU.

I don't know but probably comming up. I recently baught an untrabase because I am afraid that they are going to stop making the stuff soon, altough there is always ebay.

I think the X31 is a great and super balanced machine! at a great price! hehe.. the thought of buying a second one as a backup to my exitising one did cross my mind, although needless to say that's going to happen
