It's simple: they differ in thickness.

Look at this number :2032.

The first 2 digits indicate the diameter (in milimeters) - so 20 means 20 milimeters (2 centimeters).

The second two indicate thickness - so 25 means 2,5 milimeter and 32 - 3,2 milimeters.

If there is a chance you should use the EXACT type of battery. Otherwise it would be helpfull knowing where do you want to place the 2032 type in.

Did some reaserch on the battery.

If so, than I STRONGLY DISCOURAGE YOU FROM USING A TYPICAL BATTERY. You would have to solder the connector on both of the poles (positive and negative) to get things working. Unless you:

1) Have proper tools for the operation (that is soldering iron, solder and so on)
2) Have good skills with the soldering iron (the battery WILL get hot VERY FAST while the operation of soldering because the battery is small and the soldering iron has typically an ability of producing 100 to 200 watts of heat - if it gets too hot than it will most likely leak or explode) and know precisely what are you doing

than it is not worth trying. Instead look for a proper battery (also the type used in the ThinkPad 600 is clearly a CR2025, not a CR2032).
Also keep in mind that such "safe tricks" as taping the connector to the battery with adhensive tape isn't a very good idea - the connection is simply not 100 % sure.
