Disorganized Law Student seeks....

#1 Post by corleone » Wed Feb 09, 2005 11:40 am

Windows based daily planner program...

I see kids all over the place with PDAs and organizers... I do not have a PDA but my T42 is practically attached to my fingertips....

Can anyone recommend a GREAT windows based daily organizer program?

Thanks in advance,
C.

I use Active Desktop Calendar:

Looks rather ugly when you first install it - but play with the appearance settings some.
More for listing tasks/appointments. No address book or document management.

I simply use Outlook's built-in calendar service. I assign different colors and categories for contracts, torts, etc.

If you don't want the bloat of Outlook or office, Mozilla's Sunbird project is available and is very stable.

The Active Desktop Calender looks great..... I just downloaded their trial.

The best use I've found for the Active Desktop......

Somehow I have been trying to use organizers for years. But never seem to be able to keep up and eventually stop using them.
I was thinking of getting a PDA, but for around $400 that they go for these days I should probably get a X22 or something.

I need to get more organized...

I use Outlook 2003 to organize my work life. Works fine. I also sync it to an HP iPAQ. That works fine as well. I use QuickBooks for billing, though, because I need a real accounting system. ... JD Hurst

Outlook 2003 is nice, but speaking of organizers, does anyone know of any alternate organizers that will work with a MS Exchange server?

Well, I have an X31 (rather small screen) so I keep things simple - just play with the various options to see what suits you. I keep only a I month calendar and show the calendar as text. Use the calendar position options to set the location on your desktop. I don't use tasks (under the General tab) but this might be of use to you. Click on a date on your desktop calendar to write notes/appointments, etc.

Mozilla Sunbird (mozilla.org) is a nice opensource, free and fast calendaring application which integrates well with their email client and web browser (firefox). Can't go wrong with it's ease of use, cross platform support and ability to sync to opendav servers for use everywhere without paying the MS tax, etc.
