just received t400 need help

Before ordering my t400, I asked tech support if I could order my system with basic vista and then do a clean install of my own version of win xp on it, or if I had to select the version of vista with xp downgrade. I was told yes. However, when trying to do the install, I got a blue screen and had to abort. Fortunately, there was no overwrite to the drive so I can still boot up into vista. Can someone please direct me or inform me how do I do a clean install of win xp (media center edition, 2005) on a t400 that has vista basic?

Is there a disc that has all the win xp drivers on it for the t400? From the lenovo website there were 79 drivers listed...YIKES! If I had known that, I would have just gone for the xp downgrade.
