Getting the Bluetooth to work with the windows stack?

#1 Post by agadgetgeek » Fri Aug 28, 2009 1:34 pm

Hello all,

I've tried googling and searching these forums but i haven't really had any success.

I recently acquired a Thinkpad X61s so I figure either posting here or under hardware/software would be best.

I'm looking to use the bluetooth with the default windows driver but Haven't had any success so far. Does anyone have any advice? I'd like to do so because I want to sync it with my BlackBerry but am only able to do so with the default windows bluetooth.

I appreciate any guidance, but please don't bother telling me to search. Just hit the back button if you're going to flame. Thanks.

Edit: Just realized this is under the T6x, can a mod move this?

It's been a while since I did this (for the very same reasons you want to do it - the Blackberry DM doesn't work with anything but the default Windows Bluetooth stack) but what I remember was it was pretty simple. You have to uninstall the Thinvantage Bluetooth support and Windows will detect the hardware and support it.

It does work and well - I can not only use DM but I can also tether the BB via Bluetooth - just in case I don't have a data cable with me and need to do that.

Haha yeah that was the other real reason I want to bluetooth connect my blackberry. For tethering purposes. I've got starbucks internet access but for the odd times where I can't find a wifi signal tethering would be nice. Thanks for the advice I will try that in a few.
