T60P 15 inch non w/s freezing issues WEIRD

Okay my T60p with ati graphics model 2007-93U is acting weird. It freezes but only under like this-
I can leave laptop on for hours and hours and get it very warm and will wake from hib stanby etc will not freeze at all even with some gaming never freezes once windows is loaded. Now if its very warm and I go to reboot I can access bios windows recovery type screen etc no issues but when you get to the windows loading bar the screen does not fully load as is ill faintly see the loading bar in back screen and its stops wont load. Now I let it cool 5-10 minutes to cool it will load no problem and can game night long and never a glitch. I have cleaned the motherboard fan cpu and new thermal paste as required and correctly. This happens on windows xp vista and windows 7 I do not believe it to be a display issue as bios and every screen works its just when it begins to load windows hot and freezes could it be because the HDD is too hot since bios is not on HDD? no viruses on my system etc and will never freeze once in windows environment once im loaded even if hibernating. Weird huh? thoughts appreciated

Is your BIOS setting for CPU (I can't remember the exact name) set to "maximum performance" ?

If so, then change it to "adaptive".
