Part number for the Intel wireless card for a Z60t?

#1 Post by Louis » Mon Aug 31, 2009 9:50 am

Hey guys I am looking to possibly replace my current wireless adapter (the Atheros that comes standard on the Z60t and other models). I know there was an option for an intel adapter for the z60 at time of purchase.
I am trying to find out what the part number for that adapter is, I am hoping I can get it cheap in ebay since i doubt Lenovo will still carry it. The reason I am looking to replace it is that I am running Linux on the laptop and the Atheros card has issues connecting. I am hoping that by replacing it with the intel card I will be ok.
Thanks for any help!!

Well...according to the parts lookup, Z60t was offered with Atheros only.

Z60m was offered with Intel 2200BG and 2915ABG.

If you're interested in 2915ABG, drop me a PM.

I'm pretty sure George is correct. I currently have two Z60t's and I've tried two different Intel 3915abg adapters in each, they do not work. The machines boot up and don't recognize the adapters at all. No boot errors, but no entry in the device manager, and drivers don't do anything. It's as if they aren't even in the machine. Very strange.

At first I thought I had motherboard problems, but then I read the HMM. They don't appear to have been offered with Intel wifi adapters. Yet another ThinkPad mystery.

Also, FYI, Z60t, Z61t, Z61m use mini-PCI express adapters (like those in T60's), the Z60m uses mini-PCI adapters (like those in T4x's).

Thanks for the info.... hmm I guess I'll have to stick with the Atheros card, especially after reading underclocker's experience with the intel cards on the z60t. At least the Atheros works....not reliably but it works.
Thanks again for the help!
