Who would be in favor of a T series with the LV and ULV P-M?
I use my ThinkPad mostly for MS office, email, and other internet stuff (browser, IM). And I keep my CPU at 600 MHz all the time since I'm not playing games or compiling stuff anymore.
Does anyone else think that it would make sense to have a line of T series with Pentium M LV and ULV for those of us who don't need the extra computing power? I know that the X series has them, but what about people who want a larger screen with better resolution, but want the best in low power parts.
A T43 with ULV Pentium M, integrated graphics, and SXGA+ display would be the ultimate office machine.

Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!
Interesting idea, but would people actually pay for it?
If you take the X-series, one of the larger power drains is already the screen, and with an 14.1" instead of 12", you immediately increase that by 40%. The nine-cell already gives you five to six hours, so to sell that, it must run 9 hours plus, and there must be enough demand for such a machine.
On my T42p, which has the power draining Flexview, the total consumption with the LCD at level 3 comes to 17W at 600MHz. Both the normal and the LV version of the Pentium have the same power consumption at 600 MHz, namely 8W for work, 6W for sleep, and 2W for deeper sleep (which takes a 50 µs penalty for waking up). The ULV consumes 3.3W, 1.7W, 1.2W respectively. So best case you reduce consumption 4W, and increase time from 6h to 8h.
In my view, a LV version is useless, and a ULV version could be avoided by better power management software that makes more aggresive use of deeper sleep.

Re: Who would be in favor of a T series with the LV and ULV
The T series is designed to give a "Perfect Balance of performance and portability". LV & ULV CPU's are a bit gutless when it comes to performance so will never be incorporated into a T series machine.K.
