T41p and microsoft basic optical mouse problem

Hi Has anyone encountered scrolling problems with there T41p when using a microsoft basic optical mouse.
It seems to happen randomly but when this problem happens the mouse cursor goes down to the bottom of the screen and there is no way to controll it .
If you are in a multipage document then it will scroll the document along with it.
Unplugging the mouse and reconnecting it fixes the problem untill next time
