FS: Windows Small Business Server 2003 Standard R2 5 CAL

For sale is a fully licensed copy of Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition. This is an OEM version that came with a Dell PowerEdge 840 server about 3-years-ago. It comes with the install disks for the OS and a full Outlook 2003 that sits on the server and is installed on client PCs. It is fully-licensed with COA (mangled, came attached to the server and I pried it off with a razor blade). In addition to the original COA I will include a photocopy of it when it was still attached to the side panel of the server, which is enlarged and easier to read.

The server this came on has been wiped and is now running Windows Small Business Server 2008, so this SBS 2003 license is unused and mine to sell.

SBS 2003 R2 for those not in the know, is the last and best version of SBS 2003, and includes WSUS (Windows Server Update Service) to control updates to all PC clients as well as the server itself. It also has a full version of Exchange Server 2003 and SharePoint Server 2003. It is a 32-bit server OS that runs beautifully on anything from a 1.0 GHz Celeron single core up to fast 3 GHz + dual Xeons. It is built on Windows Server 2003, which is quite robust, and can handle anything from a small workgroup up to medium-sized corporate network with a self-hosted website and very capable intranet.

Other features are remote access, VPN, shared fax server and remote administration. This is a very easy to administer server that still does a great job serving even the latest Windows Vista and Windows 7 clients.

I moved to SBS 2008 specifically for the upgrade to Exchange 2007, which is supported the new Apple Snow Leopard OS while Exchange 2003 is not. Other than better Exchange support on my Macs, there was nothing else that SBS 2003 didn't provide.

THIS IS USED! You will not get a nice pretty COA, but an old mangled one peeled off of a server. Don't buy this if pretty matters.

As for a ThinkPad connection, well just imagine how delightful your ThinkPads will be with MS Exchange Email and SHARED CALENDARS!!!!!

In most cases, OEM Windows licenses are non-transferable and can only be sold along with the hardware that they were shipped with. It could be different with SBS, but I doubt it...perhaps someone else can confirm this.
