Another Warranty Question- Provantage?

#1 Post by ryan1212 » Fri Sep 04, 2009 6:39 pm

I just bought a T400 from the outlet store, which I believe comes with a one year depot warranty. According to: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... d=TPAD-WSU I need FRU 45K5972 to upgrade to a 3 year depot.

Anyone ever bought a warranty from or heard of Provantage? They are selling that for $68, which seems like an awesome deal to upgrade from the 1yr depot to a 3yr depot.

Yes I bought a warranty from Proadvantage to extend my w700 warranty from 1-year depot to 3-year depot. Pretty easy, they give you a serial number/key which you then use on the lenovo web page to enter your current machine information and the warranty serial number/key, and viola your warranty is extended.

I find the prices are cheaper than going thru Lenovo.

For me I find the 3 year seems to be the sweet spot in terms of price. Going for a 4 year doubles the cost. I figured after 3 years, you can pick up used machine or parts off ebay rather cheaply, or perhaps moved on to another machine
