X61 Display Brightness Issue

#1 Post by ArtShapiro » Fri Sep 11, 2009 12:07 am

I went to put in the recent Patch Tuesday updates on my wife's X61 (7675-CTR), a machine that I handle relatively infrequently.

It's running Vista Ultimate, a replacement for the Vista Basic with which the machine originally was shipped.

I've discovered that when running on battery, the screen brightness is minimal (zero bars) and when running on AC - which is the case 99% of the time - it is full brightness - all bars.

Changing either of them works, but the value doesn't "stick" - as soon as one goes from AC to battery or vice versa, the zero-bars or all-bars settings immediately are applied.

Am I overlooking something obvious here? I'm really not sure how to retain the desired brightness settings for both power modes, and diddling them, while hardly difficult, is a bit of a nuisance.

Thanks for any insight.

Check the settings of whatever profile you're using in Power Manager. It's probably set to 0 on battery and full brightness on AC. You can create your own profile and set it do what ever you like. I myself have it set to three on battery and 100% on AC.
