T500 can not write CD

Hi all,
I use ThinkPad T500 2242-33U.
When I get my machine, I can write CD. Now, I don't know why I can not write any CD by any program. But I can write DVD normally.

Anyone have a same problem with me?

I have the same problem with an SL 500 windows xp sp3. I deleted Vista and did a clean install with XP SP3. Every time i try to burn a cd it fails using iTunes or Nero.

That is not a good thing. Enable DMA in device manager for the drive.

That doesn't look good. Maybe try some different discs or software as a place to start. CDBurnerXP or ImgBurn are free and work well for the basics.

If the machine is still in warranty, just contact Lenovo and tell them that it won't write CDs, and they should mail you a replacement burner.

In XP:
Device Manager:
Go to the IDE ATA/ATAPI controller card, expand it
Select the either the "Primary" or "Secondary" IDE Channel (which ever one the drive is connected to).
Advance Settings Tab
Verify "Transfer Mode" is "DMA if available"
Verify "Current transfer mode" really is DMA.

P.S.
Have you tried a different brand/model of blank CD's? See if you can bum/exchange a blank CD from a friend, neighbor, co-worker and try it.

I had a entire spindle of blank CD's that just wouldn't work with my burner (every other brand/model of blank CD's did just fine). Ended up giving the spindle away.
