Intel X18-M SSD for my X300?

#1 Post by Deadreckoning » Mon Sep 14, 2009 10:28 pm

I'm thinking about getting one of the new 2nd generation Intel X18-M SSDs for my X300 when they become available. It is a 1.8 inch drive, will it fit in my X300? Anybody notice an improvement over the original Samsung MMD drive?

Yes, it will fit and you will most likely see a noticeable improvement in load times. However, whether or not the improvement is big enough for the cost of the drive is up for you to decide. Personally - I say no.

Unless you need the extra space I'd leave it alone and not purchase the Intel drive.

Also keep in mind that the X300 has a limit on transfer rate that the Intel SSD will probably reach (the newer X301's do not have this problem).
