Dead Pixel Test

#1 Post by ranjit » Fri Feb 11, 2005 8:27 am

Hi All,

How does one test for dead pixels on a TFT LCD laptop screen? Is there a special utility that I have to run?

Also, why does the screen (bluish) of my T42 look a bit lighter on the right side and bit darker on the left?

Cheers and best regards,
Ranjit

If you can't see a dead pixel then why worry? Don't go test crazy!

If you really need to check or confirm a dead pixel try this: create an all-white background (set desktop background to plain white, for example). Dead pixels will show up as tiny black dots. Then create an all-black screen. Pixels stuck on will show as a white or colored dot.

Uneven screen brightness is probably due to the positioning of the backlight. I've yet to see a laptop screen that is uniformly bright top to bottom or left to right.
