Creating partitions on T60p using Vista

#1 Post by furrycute » Fri Sep 18, 2009 10:20 am

Man, got my T60p back from the service depot, installed a new 500GB hard drive, installed extra RAM, ran into a few problems, but all the people on this forum helped me solve them. Love this forum!

Now since I have a 500GB hard drive, I am thinking about using Vista's built in partition software to partition the primary hard drive into a 50GB OS partition, and a 400GB media partition. But when I tried to do that under disk management, Vista shows me that I can only create a 160GB new partition. I can't go higher than that. So that means the OS partition will be about 300GB.

Any workarounds?

The article is a little geeky, but if you are handy perhaps you can solve the space usage problem.

Another solution would be a third party disk management program for around 40 dollars. (Perhaps some freeware exists, too)

Gparted would be some freeware. It's Linux based.
