Thinking in rescuing a Thinkpad 350

#1 Post by urgan » Fri Sep 18, 2009 7:29 pm

Very solid metal case, mono vga screen no CD, no lan, obsolete 10 years ago.
Both batteries must be dead but is sold as is (don't know if it works) without power brick.
Can I use any of the old 16V chargers ? Does it have a serial port ?
Any sugestion for a fun project to do with it (1 pcmcia slot , 1 legacy serial port, 1 parallel port) ? I have a wireless pcmcia card (not cardbus, should work), and ethernet is easy to find too.
Is it a good piece for a collection ? Any special advice ?

I snagged a 350C a while back, this is color I think. The problem I have with it is the plug end is different then the 16V adapters I have for the other thinkpads (metal pin is too thick on the laptop side).

Are you sure its not a plastic case?

Hi,
I don't really know about the case, i was just citing from one of the few pages I've found about it:
http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/ ... edhat.html

I says he used a toshiba charger, so there is hope.
I've a 1995 IBM laptop charger I've found (never found the laptop though, how annoying is that?) were I work.
And like you say, the hole is a bit larger than usual, so I think it will work.
I've only seen one photo, and it looks kind of cool in a geeky way.

Does it have any kind of video connection (early vga) ?
