T43 Wifi 2915ABG fail to work on Win7 7600RTM

#1 Post by wilsonhs » Sun Sep 20, 2009 6:04 am

Hey guys,
My T43 is a 1871-F1G wif Intel 2915ABG wifi card (FRU) installed
Im just so upset after i hv upgraded to Win7, wif all drivers working (besides WIFI)
I hv jus tried out all version of Intel Drivers and Access Connection (I hope theres no left-out)
And the Wifi led is jus still on/blinking, that cant be turned off.
However, in AccessConnection (5.12 to newest), option of Wireless is Disabled, probably the card is not working.

pressing Fn+F5 is jus working on Bluetooth, while Wifi keeps its LED on.
I have installed all like On Screen Display, Hotkey, Keyboard Utility, AccessConnection etc.

This is reli frustrating, I jus hope any bro that can help me out.
Cheers

With wired ethernet connected, reboot the computer a few time. It should pick up the correct driver.

Thanks mate, The card itself is working now
but still, Fn+F5 function key is not able to control the on/off of wifi
and Even I turn it off in Windows/AccessConnection,
the LED still on. Jus dun understand why.

I think you have to go to device manager and uninstall the driver for wireless first. Then reboot and make sure your wired ethernet is connected.

Then log back on and go to control panel. Choose Windows Updates and look in the optional updates. Your correct driver will then be ready for a download.

This worked for me.

Fn+F5 is part of Hotkey utility. Try the Vista version.

I guess the TVSU has provided me the Vista Version.
and I have then tried the XP version of OSD.
Still no luck.

I guess its better for me to roll back to XP till further information about the solution.
Luckily I have got a spare Harddrive to test for Win7.
If I have upgraded to Win7 directly, I sure I would be in deep trouble.
Thanks again all.

Cheers

dear all,
the wifi and Fn + F5 control is now working
however, still bit frustrated that the LED cant be turned off even the Wifi Radio is off,
and it blinks when the radio is active.
Anyone knows whether any steps I hv left out or this is already normal?
Thanks

FWIW I didn't use the Lenovo programs to figure out what I need to install.
I let Windows decide what programs my Thinkpad needed. I'll peek into my C: drive and tell you what I have installed in my Drivers folder.

Soundmax Driver
Hotkey
Powermanager
SMIIF (I think that's the system interface driver)

That's all I have regarding Lenovo programs on both my laptops. My R52 also has the Thinkvantage Active Protection System b/c that model supports it. I downloaded and installed the TAPS myself. A search indicates the Wifi driver is in the sys32 and not the C: Drivers folder.

The only thing I don't have working yet is the Fn + F2 (screen off) . I think I may have posted a thread about that but I just haven't really looked into it yet.

That should be Fn + F3 AFAIK...
