battery for laptops
I'm danish. Sorry for my sometimes bad english spelling and understanding.
Re: battery for laptops
I can only speak from my experience with IBM/Lenovo and Toshiba laptops but the aftermarket batteries for those computers were worthless (dead within a year - and just try tracking down the sellers for "warranty replacement"!)
But you might get lucky.

Re: battery for laptops
I'd say if you have a chance to look up newly manufactured batteries for it, you'll be in a better spot. I have a Dell Inspiron 2650 and an Apple Powerbook G4, and I just picked up a pair of new batteries, one for each, which are made by Rayovac. While Rayovac is not my battery of choice, I'm very pleased with the performance by these batteries, and they are brand new, these are not remanufactured or old batteries with new cells.
In the states, there's a store called Batteries Plus which I went to, I'm not sure if there's something similar where you are, but it's worth a shot looking. The cost for something like that sure beats the cost of a new laptop. My powerbook is now working great for me, and I couldn't ask for anything better. Also, you may want to get in touch with HP, as they bought Compaq a couple years ago.
I'm not too fond of batteries from ebay because even if the battery is "new in box" or low cycles, you don't know the real age of the battery until you get it. that "new" battery could be 6 years old, never opened.
