Using Old DVD from X61s in X200 UltraBase

Hi

I have been an X-series users for many years upgrading to new models since X20. Just ordered an X200 with UltraBase.

Is is possible to reuse a CD-RW/DVD-ROM Ultrabay Slim Drive from X61s (FRU P/N - 39T2677) in the X200 UltraBase?

If not, anyway to ue-use the above old DVD drive? Any way to convert them into an external drive?

I believe this question is more relevant to the X200 community who may have a greater chance of owning a X61 before, than X61 users owning a X200.

May I choose to keep this thread in the X200 forum? Thanks so much.

Sure, I can move it there, but that is not where I moved it from....it was in the X2X forum.

Won't work. X6 Ultrabase optical drive is PATA while X200 Ultrabase is SATA. The connector is different, drive won't fit.

This one might be suitable for your need: USB EXTERNAL CASE FOR THINKPAD slim optical drive.

Let us know if you are going to try it.

Thanks for the info. It says it's for T-series drives. Does it work with a X61s or X41 Slim DVD Drive?
