Screen size shrinks when I lower the screen resolution
Screen size shrinks when I lower the screen resolution
I tried searching for an answer, but couldn't find anything, so I hope someone can help me out.
After I plugged a projector into my T60 with Win XP, the screen image will only fill the entire 14.1" Thinkpad screen if the resolution is set to 1400 x 1050. If I lower the screen resolution to 800 x 600, the screen image is only about 5" x 6", the rest of the screen is black.
Even when the projector is not plugged into my T60, I still have this issue.
Does anyone know what's going on here?
I called customer support and they couldn't help me out.
I loaded up a saved state before this problem happened, but when I plugged in the projector again, the problem returned.
Thanks,
Jason

Re: Screen size shrinks when I lower the screen resolution
There is a setting in the BIOS under config, display, it is something like LCD streach. That should enable scaling and allow all the resolutions to fill the screen.
Good luck

Thank you, I'll try this when I get home from work today.

I tried turning one and off the HZ adjustment for stretching sign, but it didn't make a difference.craigmontHunter wrote:There is a setting in the BIOS under config, display, it is something like LCD streach. That should enable scaling and allow all the resolutions to fill the screen.
Any other ideas?

On both my X31 and my T43p, that feature is controlled in "Thinkpad Configuration", click on the LCD button, upper right, and change "Screen Expansion" from "Disable" to "Enable".

Re: Screen size shrinks when I lower the screen resolution
Try the video card settings in windows. I have a t41, so the settings page is probably not the same, but there should be a setting in the display driver to turn on the display expansion. on my ATI card, it is under the advanced settings of the display properties box, under displays, there is a picture of a laptop, you choose that and there is an option for "LCD Panel Scaling". Newer versions might have a diffrent system, but you should try to find an option on the video card driver. Intel has it in the same place, and the nivida cards do too.
In the thinkpad configeration, I think that is the bios settings (I may be wrong)
Good luck

Also, double-check to make sure that the external display ports are not active. You can do this in the display advanced properties, or the Catalyst Control Center. I find with my Thinkpds that if they think somehow that an external display is active, LCD stretch doesn't work.

Re: Screen size shrinks when I lower the screen resolution
Ok, in the ATI Catalyst Control, I went to the Notebook Panel Properties tab, and selected Full Screen in the Scaling Options box.
So now I can have full screen at 1024x768 resolution for the first time in months!.
The problem is, whenever I close the lid, or the system goes into Standby and Hibernation, the Scaling Options switches from Full Screen to Centered, and I repeat the entire process.
Does anyone have a clue why the Full Screen option isn't sticking?
Thanks for the help so far!
