Rescue & Recovery On 2 USB Drives Simultaneously

#1 Post by jmowen » Tue Sep 22, 2009 7:54 am

Hi all, first post here.

A couple of questions about R&R.

Am currently backing up my R52 via R&R (version 4.2)on to 2 external USB hard drives, one is a WD 120GB and the other is a WD 40GB IDE drive.

To save time, is it possible to run R&R on both drives at the same time? In R&R, there is a provision for primary and secondary back-up locations. The problem is R&R will only allow me to backup to only one of the hard drives. Is there any way to get R&R to back up to both drives at the same time?

Secondly, am presently backing up via R&R by plugging in my USB drives one after the other, a process which takes over 2 hours. I prefer to a do a fresh backup each week, i.e., no, incremental backups. The thing is once I plug in the 2nd of my USB drives and I click on "View all backups", R&R will display the backup made on the first USB drive. I then delete this backup and start R&R again.

By deleting this backup made earlier, does this mean that this backup is no longer available or functioning on the first USB drive?

Apologies for the lengthy first post but would appreciate any and all comments.

If you delete a backup, and then write a new backup over it, the old one will be GONE.
Rather than using R&R, invest a few dollars in Acronis TrueImage.
Then start taking a weekly image of your HD. The image itself can be compressed up to ~40%, so you'd have space for more images.
Taking an image, and restoring from an image, is a lot faster than via R&R.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)

Thanks for the tip. Think I will probably have to go down that way.
