512 pc100 low density

#1 Post by NautTboy » Wed Sep 23, 2009 11:31 pm

I saw on Ebay that they make 512mb pc100 low density now. I know a lot of TP has gone beyong it's max using 256mb low density. I was wondering has anyone tried the 512mb low density? I have tp 1300 that pc100 256 works, but I fried it. Since 512 is only a couple dollars more, i would just get the 512.

If anybody really made a "low density" 512MB module, it would have to have 32 16MB devices mounted on the board. That would mean some very fancy chip-scale packaging or a module which is "taller" than the 1.25" inches that standard SODIMMs are built on (some Apple modules are "double-height", about 2" tall).

I think that most cases with sellers saying that they have a "low" or "high" density 512MB PC100 or PC133 module, they are simply describing the difference between a module built with 16 or 8 devices. In either one of those cases, those modules can't be used in a system such as a 600X or T22.
