T400s docking station, no undock button???

#1 Post by sgossard34 » Fri Sep 25, 2009 3:22 pm

I have a new t400s and an ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3.

NOticed something. The docking station has NO undock button. Nor do I see an undock option under the start menu when connected to the docking station.

What am I missing here?

thanks,

Probably not needed.

To tell you the truth, I never use the undocking button on any of my docks (T42/T60).

Just very odd. The thinkpad docking stations have always had them.

Also not to see the undock button under the start menu troubles me. Wondering if something is not working correctly.

As much as I remember, Matt Kohut from lenovoblogs.com told that the new T400s dock is used like a usb device, you just remove the laptop like any other usb device (keyboard / mouse) and everything is fine!

I think, this is a great advantage.

Yes I hope this is the case. It seems this is how things are working right now. I thought i would bring it up though. I will read through the blogs that you metioned.

You were right. He does comment on it.

Matt Kohut.......

"Rip and Go – This has been a much requested feature. As you may recall, legacy ports such as parallel and serial require operating system permission before they will disconnect. New technologies like USB do not have this limitation. By eliminating serial/parallel ports, we no longer needed three step undocking (push button, wait, undock). You can simply rip your system from the dock and go. "

Thanks again!

I have this same problem and could not find an answer on the web. Has anyone solved the problem? Thanks, Mitchell
