Media Player on EU version

#1 Post by t-rex » Sat Sep 26, 2009 5:38 pm

Hello
I reloaded XP Pro on my T-23. I borrowed a disc and got it
up and running again. The problem is it is the EU version.
i put Media Player 11 on it but have no sound. So this was Bills
answer to that law suit? How do i get Media Player to work
right?

Thanks

This article mentions media packs. Did you install them?

No, it's not. Sound isn't disabled on European versions of Windows.

First things firts: How did you check whether sound is working?
Did you try to play a wav sound file (you can find some in c:\windows\media)?
If that doesn't work, you're either missing the drivers for the sound card or you have to check the hardware volume keys and the software mixer.

If you can hear wav files, but not other files, you have to check what format those files are in.
