Screen very dim on new LCD display

#1 Post by JohnLW » Mon Sep 28, 2009 1:55 am

Hello, I'm a newbie to this forum. I hope someone can help... I have a T400 which was dropped, which caused the screen to break. I've installed a new screen, which works except that it is very dim. At first I thought the new screen was faulty, so I tried another, but with the same result. The backlight is not being powered for some reason. I see from other posts in this forum that the backlight can be LEDs or normal CCFL. How to tell? My replacement screen is CCFL and it fits the original inverter.

I have tried replacing the screen cable as well as the inverter, but still no change. My thought is that the lid switch might be stuck, but I can't find the lid switch anywhere. There is a strange branch on the screen cable which seems to lead to a dead end (no device or connector on the end).

My questions are: Does anyone know where the lid switch is? How can I tell which backlight my model uses? The type number is 2765-22G.

Any help would be really appreciated

on this page, http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... OOK-WARNTY enter you S\N and model type, and it will tell you what FRUs were installed in your machine. A quick google search of the FRU will tell you the original screen.

Could the cable have been damaged in the drop?
